50 Cent produces Diddy documentary, premieres on Netflix

A four-part documentary examining the rise and fall of music mogul Sean Combs, titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, is scheduled to debut on Netflix this week. Produced by longtime rival Curtis 50 Cent Jackson, the series will be released on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

The documentary arrives following Combs conviction on federal prostitution charges, which resulted in a 50-month prison sentence. Director Alexandria Stapleton explained that part of the project was inspired by Combs former partner, Casandra Fine Ventura, known professionally as Cassie, who filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him in November 2023.

Stapleton emphasized that the series extends beyond Combs personal story: This isnt just about Sean Combs, Cassie, or the allegations. Its a reflection on society and how we elevate celebrities to an unrealistic status. The goal is to remind viewers that everyone is human.

Details About the Documentary

The docuseries will feature previously unreleased footage and interviews with individuals from Combs inner circle. These insiders reveal how darker aspects of his ambitions emerged over time. Jackson commented, Through G-Unit Film and Television, Ive dedicated years to truthful storytelling. Im thankful to those who shared their experiences and proud of Alexandria Stapletons direction to bring this story to life.

The first teaser includes the voice of former Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry, known for his contribution to Combs hit Bad Boy For Life. Currys narration reflects the consequences of unchecked actions: You cant keep hurting people indefinitely. Its just a matter of time.

Legal Proceedings

Combs is expected to be released from federal prison on May 8, 2028, after completing his 50-month sentence, though this date may adjust. His legal team previously attempted unsuccessfully to overturn his conviction or secure a new trial. U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian is the presiding judge for Combs sentencing.

Release Information

The documentary will be available on Netflix starting Dec. 2 at 3 a.m. ET.
