New information regarding Steven Spielbergs upcoming UFO-themed movie has sparked interest in when audiences might see its first trailer. Reports suggest the debut could coincide with high-profile screenings, keeping fans eager for updates on the films promotional campaign.

James Camerons Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to feature multiple major trailers during its theatrical release. Confirmed additions include the Marvel Studios Avengers: Doomsday trailer and a full preview for Christopher Nolans The Odyssey. Insider Daniel Richtman has indicated that a teaser for Spielbergs UFO project may also premiere alongside Avatar 3 (via SFF Gazette).

Spielberg is returning to science fiction with this untitled project, which is based on his original concept. The screenplay is being written by David Koepp, who has previously collaborated with Spielberg on Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The films cast includes Emily Blunt, Josh OConnor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.

Earlier in June 2025, the production team privately screened the first footage at the opening of the Steven Spielberg Theater, though plot details have not been revealed.

Spielbergs last science fiction film, Ready Player One, grossed over $600 million worldwide. He has a longstanding legacy in the genre with classics such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Minority Report, and War of the Worlds. His blockbuster career began with Jaws.

Following The Fabelmans, there were speculations about Spielberg retiring, but he confirmed the development of this new project in early 2025. His upcoming works continue to attract significant attention worldwide.

Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese is actively working on two projects, including a Life of Jesus adaptation and a Frank Sinatra biopic, with potential stars like Andrew Garfield, Miles Teller, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lawrence rumored to be involved.
