Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton came together once again at a special New York City screening of Merrily We Roll Along. The two Harry Potter stars posed for their first public photo together in over a decade, marking a memorable moment for longtime fans.
The event took place on Monday, December 1, at the Hudson Theatre, where Radcliffe stars in the filmed recording of the 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheim's musical. The actors embraced and exchanged a few words before attendees were invited into the theater. This marked their first public appearance together since the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011.
Radcliffe, 36, and Felton, 38, first met while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone nearly 24 years ago. While their characters were rivals on-screen, their off-screen relationship has remained supportive and close. Felton recently shared that Radcliffe inspired his interest in theater, leading him to make his Broadway debut.
Ive taken a few tips from Potter. He was one of the early inspirations for me to come to Broadway, Felton said during a November appearance on Good Morning America. Seeing him perform years ago motivated me, and now hes a Tony winner and a big inspiration for why Broadway is so special.
Felton is currently performing as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, now in its seventh year in New York. The play explores the next generation of Hogwarts families, focusing on the children of Harry and Draco, and has drawn large audiences eager to see Felton reprise his iconic role. The show has achieved remarkable box office success, grossing over $3.15 million during Thanksgiving week alone.
Radcliffe has not yet seen Felton perform on stage, but he expressed his admiration for his former co-stars progress. Its amazing that he sees me as an inspiration, Radcliffe said on Good Morning America. Tom was always the cool kid growing up, so its so touching. Im thrilled to see him on Broadway.
Fans can look forward to seeing Radcliffe return to Broadway next year in the premiere of Every Brilliant Thing, a solo play by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe. Previews start February 21, 2026, at the Hudson Theatre, with the official opening night on March 12. The limited engagement runs through May 24. Radcliffe described the play as a heartfelt yet humorous exploration of life and resilience, centered on a boy creating a list of everything that makes life worth living.
Meanwhile, audiences can also watch Radcliffe on screen in the filmed capture of Merrily We Roll Along, directed by Maria Friedman and featuring Tony winners Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez. Radcliffe shared mixed feelings about seeing himself on screen, appreciating the performances of his fellow actors.
Merrily We Roll Along will be released in theaters on December 5.
