It has been 34 years since My Girl premiered, and actress Anna Chlumsky looks stunning as ever. The 44-year-old brunette rose to fame as a child in the 1991 coming-of-age film about Vada Sultenfuss, a young girl living with her father, played by Dan Aykroyd, in a funeral home during the early 1970s. The story follows Vada and her best friend Thomas J., portrayed by Macaulay Culkin, through a series of heartfelt adventures.
Even after more than three decades, the actors from the cherished film continue to thrive. Chlumsky, in particular, has delighted audiences in recent years with her role as the overworked Amy on Veep alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and she has also developed a successful career in theater.
Earlier this month, Chlumsky made a striking appearance on Good Night New York, wearing a white knit dress with black stripes. Her layered brunette hair with soft bangs and elegant hoop earrings completed the look, leaving a lasting impression.
Jamie Lee Curtis Reflects on the Film
Jamie Lee Curtis, who played Aykroyd's characters girlfriend, shared her admiration for the young actors in a recent interview. Watching Chlumsky and Culkin tackle themes of grief and loss, Curtis described it as emotional and challenging. Seeing such young actors handle adult material is tough, she said. It was a beautiful experience, but also very intense.
Chlumsky Rules Out a Third My Girl Movie
Despite the enduring popularity of My Girl and its sequel, Chlumsky has firmly stated she will never participate in another installment. I will never, ever do one, she told Forbes. Her co-star from Smoke, John Leguizamo, was taken aback by her firm stance, noting, You never say never in this business. I love that she takes a stand. Chlumsky explained, I played that character when I was ten. I dont need to revisit it as an adult.
Current Work: Chlumsky on Smoke
Currently, Chlumsky appears on Apple TV+s Smoke, which follows arson investigator Taron Egerton and detective Jurnee Smollett as they track two serial arsonists in the Pacific Northwest. Chlumskys character joins the investigation midway through the season, adding depth to the storyline.
