Scarlett Johansson Reveals Why She Left Now-Husband Colin Jost On Their First Date

Scarlett Johansson revealed that her initial romantic experience with Colin Jost ended in an unexpectedly awkward way, leaving the comedian a bit perplexed. During Mondays episode of Today With Jenna and Friends, the Jurassic World Rebirth star recounted how her first outing with the Saturday Night Live co-host went from pleasant to uncomfortable.

Johansson admitted, "My first date with Colin, honestly, nobody ever really asked me out before," reflecting on her limited dating experience at the time. She described herself as having been a "serial monogamist" prior to meeting Jost and noted that she never experienced the typical approach of being asked out for dinner.

The actress explained that they met for dinner at an Italian restaurant in New York. While the evening began well, it took an unexpected turn later on. "It was a lovely date," Johansson said. "We had dinner around 8 p.m., and afterward he suggested, 'Im meeting friends, lets go grab a drink.'" Surprised by the proposal, Johansson decided to end the evening instead of continuing the date.

Recalling the moment, she said, "I hadnt dated basically ever and so I was just like, Ive got to go now. I need to leave. I got home to relieve my babysitter, and she asked, Why are you home?" Johansson explained that she wrapped things up early because she felt flustered by the suggestion.

The unusual ending of the date seemed to confuse Jost as well. Johansson noted, "Later on he was like, I totally thought that was it. You were acting so weird. I panicked. I dont know."

Jost and Johansson began dating in 2017, though their first meeting was on the set of SNL in 2006 when she hosted the show. The couple married in 2020. Johansson was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds (20082011) and journalist Romain Dauriac (20142017). Together, Jost and Johansson welcomed their first child in August 2021, and Johansson also has a daughter from her previous marriage to Dauriac.
