Scarlett Johansson's 'Strange' Actions Could Have Ended Relationship with Colin Jost on First Date

Scarlett Johansson recently shared a surprisingly uncomfortable moment that almost derailed her relationship with Colin Jost before it even got started. The actress explained that her unusual reaction during their initial meeting left the Saturday Night Live star uncertain about their compatibility.

Early Dating Struggles

Johansson revealed that her romance with Jost did not begin as smoothly as many fans might assume. Speaking on a recent episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, which she co-hosted, she admitted that she had limited dating experience and often felt out of her element.

On my first date with Colin, honestly, no one had really asked me out before, Johansson confessed. I was a serial monogamist and never had a typical Would you like to have dinner? moment.

Their connection officially began in 2017 when Jost invited Johansson to dinner. She described their night starting on a pleasant note at an Italian restaurant in New Yorks East Village.

It was a lovely evening. We had dinner around 8 p.m., and afterwards he suggested meeting some friends for a drink. I hadnt really dated much, so I felt I had to leave immediately, she recalled.

An Unexpectedly Awkward Exit

Johanssons early departure created an unintentionally awkward situation. She arrived home so early that her babysitter was surprised.

I got home to relieve my babysitter at 9:36, and she asked, Why are you home so early? I just felt flustered and didnt know how to explain, Johansson shared.

Jost, too, was left puzzled by her sudden exit.

He later told me, I thought that was it. You were acting so strange, Johansson admitted. I panicked. I dont know why I reacted that way.

From Acquaintances to Marriage

Johansson and Jost initially met back in 2006 when Johansson hosted Saturday Night Live, but their romantic relationship did not begin until over a decade later. The couple married in 2020 and now have a son together.
