Shira Haas to play leading role in Netflix remake of ‘The Boys from Brazil’

Production for the new Netflix adaptation of Ira Levin's novel The Boys from Brazil is set to commence this December across the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, and Spain. The series will be a five-part project led by creator Peter Moran, known for his work on The Crown.

Shira Haas, the acclaimed Israeli actress, has been confirmed to star. The story, originally adapted into a 1978 film featuring Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier, follows Nazi hunter Yakov Liebermann as he uncovers Josef Mengeles plan to resurrect the Third Reich by cloning Nazi leaders in Latin America.

Jeremy Strong, recognized for his roles in Succession and the upcoming film Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, will portray Liebermann in the series. Haas, a Golden Globe and Emmy nominee famed for her performances in Shtisel and Unorthodox, will take on the role of a young investigator collaborating with Liebermann. She previously earned the Best Actress award at the Tribeca Film Festival for her work in Ruthy Pribars Asia and appeared in Captain America: Brave New World with Harrison Ford.

The cast also features August Diehl, Daniel Brhl, Gillian Anderson, and Lizzy Caplan. Filming is scheduled to start in December in multiple European locations including the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, and Spain.
