The Funniest Joke from the Newest 'Simpsons' Episode, 'Aunt Misbehavin'

Even though their Fortnite crossover has ended, The Simpsons continues to thrive, likely outlasting generations to come. The latest episode from season 37, titled "Aunt Misbehavin", centers on Bart and Lisa getting caught in the middle of a rivalry between Marges twin sisters, Patty and Selma.

The episode opens with a clash between Bart and Homer. Bart antagonizes his dental hygienist by consuming a box of oversized Oreo-style cookies right before his checkup. In retaliation, Homer attacks Barts Xbox with a power drill, prompting Bart to plot revenge. Fortunately for him, Aunt Patty has a cunning plan to prank Homer mercilessly. As she ponders, she considers, Perhaps the enemy of my brother-in-law is my nephew. She proceeds to hack the DMV system, posing as her newly promoted sister, and has Homer officially declared dead.

Homers death is not entirely unprecedented. Back in season seven, he faked his demise by sending a dummy off a cliff into beaver-infested waters to skip a day of community service. Yet, this latest pretend death seems to bring him even greater joy. He is ecstatic when Krusty the Clown visits the Simpson household to enroll Marge in the Krusty Burger Widows Free Fast Food For Life Club, accompanied by former Krusty Burger mascots Burger Reynolds and Princess Fry. I should have died years ago! Homer exclaims upon learning they will enjoy endless Krusty Burgers.

One of the episodes funniest sequences shows Homer reveling in the perks of being declared dead, set to The Traveling Wilburys "End of the Line". After celebrating the cancellation of his debts, he relaxes in a hammock, only to be surrounded by organ donation collectors. However, before they can claim any organs, one medic suffers a heart attack and collapses. The team simply shrugs and removes him in a body bag, leaving Homer untouched.

Season 37 also introduces a memorable guest performance by Stephen Tobolowsky, who plays Merle, a quirky credit card points enthusiast who becomes Selmas love interest. Additionally, the episode delivers laughs through Mr. Burns unintentionally risqu vanity license plate gag.
