Chris Cuomo criticizes AOC and Far-Left for lack of patriotism: ‘They dislike it more than they appreciate it’

On a recent episode of his podcast, The Chris Cuomo Project, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo expressed his belief that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and other far-left politicians focus more on criticizing the United States than appreciating it. Cuomo shared his thoughts during an interview with progressive podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen.

Cuomo reflected on his father's experience, saying he faced discrimination as an ethnic minority and resented those who limited his opportunities. Despite this, Cuomo emphasized, his father still loved the country deeply. He contrasted this with what he perceives as AOC and similar figures attitudes, suggesting they dislike the nation more than they admire it.

After Cohen discussed the importance of dissent and cautioned against shallow displays of patriotism, Cuomo continued his argument. He questioned why the American flag is seen as controversial in certain political contexts and highlighted a perceived lack of positive commentary about the country from Democratic leaders. Cuomo argued that true patriotism includes striving to improve systemic and cultural issues while maintaining a belief in the countrys potential.

He concluded by asserting that he struggles to recall instances where AOC has spoken positively about the United States, suggesting a disconnect between criticism and appreciation in her approach.
