After Cohen discussed the importance of dissent and cautioned against shallow displays of patriotism, Cuomo continued his argument. He questioned why the American flag is seen as controversial in certain political contexts and highlighted a perceived lack of positive commentary about the country from Democratic leaders. Cuomo argued that true patriotism includes striving to improve systemic and cultural issues while maintaining a belief in the countrys potential.

He concluded by asserting that he struggles to recall instances where AOC has spoken positively about the United States, suggesting a disconnect between criticism and appreciation in her approach.
