FBI refutes allegations of Patel instructing agents to drive girlfriend's friend home

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has rejected claims suggesting that Director Kash Patel instructed agents assigned to his girlfriends security detail to give a ride home to one of her friends following an evening outing. The bureau described the report as "fabricated" and categorically denied the allegation.

This clarification comes amid reports that the FBI has deployed a protective security team, sourced from a Nashville-based SWAT unit, to safeguard Patels partner, country singer Alexis Wilkins. The decision reportedly follows hundreds of credible threats linked to her association with the FBI director. The bureau confirmed the security measures are based on formal threat assessments, while declining to share operational specifics.

Concerns Raised by Former Officials

Current and former law enforcement leaders noted to MS NOW that there is no known precedent for assigning a government-provided detail to a romantic partner of the FBI director, particularly if they do not live together. Some expressed worries that using SWAT teams for personal protection could limit their availability for critical emergency responses.

Ex-FBI agent Christopher OLeary criticized the use of tactical teams for Wilkins as inappropriate and called the claim that agents were ordered to chauffeur her frienddenied by the bureauoutrageous if it were true.

Patel Addresses Travel-Related Criticism

Separately, Patel defended his use of an FBI aircraft following a House Democratic inquiry into his travel. Speaking to Fox News, he stated that he flies less than previous directors and emphasizes fiscal responsibility. He noted that directors are required to use government aircraft and affirmed his right to a personal life, including accompanying his girlfriend on trips.

Earlier reports indicated that President Donald Trump had contemplated replacing Patel after critical coverage regarding his use of FBI resources, including trips to Wilkins concerts. Both the president and the White House dismissed claims that Patel faced removal.
