Sunny Hostin Completely Disagrees With Halle Berry's Menopause Battle Against Gavin Newsom

During Friday's episode of The View, Sunny Hostin expressed firm disagreement with her co-hosts regarding a menopause-related bill in California, which Governor Gavin Newsom has rejected twice. The legislation, championed by actress Halle Berry, aims to enhance and broaden menopause care across the state.

The show aired a segment featuring Berry emphasizing the significance of menopause awareness. Governor Newsom has vetoed our menopause bill, not once, but two consecutive years, Berry stated. But thats temporary. Considering his repeated disregard for women in mid-life, he might not be the right choice for president either.

Co-host Sara Haines highlighted the necessity of such initiatives to improve education and treatment options for women. The core of this story is Halle Berrys perspective menopause affects half the population, Haines said. Each year, 1.3 million women in the U.S. enter menopause, and 75 million are in peri-menopause or postmenopause.

However, Hostin disagreed completely with Berry. I have great respect for Halle Berry, but I disagree with her entirely, Hostin remarked. Governor Newsom has clarified that his vetoes are due to cost concerns. Healthcare expenses are projected to rise significantly in 2026, so its crucial to manage legislation accordingly.

Hostin continued, noting Newsoms efforts to support women in other areas, including signing a law permitting healthcare providers to prescribe abortion medication confidentially and ensuring state-regulated plans cover these medications regardless of federal approval. Additionally, he has expanded access to essential products such as prenatal vitamins, menstrual items, and haircare, reflecting his commitment to womens health while balancing the broader costs of healthcare.

The discussion highlighted the tension between advocating for expanded menopause care and addressing the financial implications for the states healthcare system. The segment with Berry can be viewed on The View.
