Halle Berry Criticizes Gavin Newsom's Treatment of Women

Some observers question whether Gavin Newsom is the right choice for future U.S. leadership, and Halle Berry appears to share that concern, particularly regarding his approach to women's health. The Academy Award-winning actress expressed disapproval of the California Governor's repeated vetoes of legislation aimed at improving medical care for menopausal women.

Last year, Berry advocated for increased research and public awareness about menopause, endorsing a bill proposed by Senators Patty Murray and Lisa Murkowski. Newsom has hinted at a possible 2028 presidential bid, but Berrys recent comments suggest she would not support his candidacy.

During a speech at the New York Times DealBook Summit, Berry criticized Newsom for undervaluing women, stating, he probably should not be our next president either.

A spokesperson for Newsom explained that the governor vetoed the menopause bill due to concerns that it could increase healthcare costs for millions of working women, while noting his respect for Berrys advocacy and his commitment to improving access to menopausal care.

Berry emphasized in her address that women should not have to endure extended periods of poor health and that more attention is needed for midlife women's well-being. She has openly shared her own menopause challenges, explaining that a lack of proper education inspired her to establish Respin Health, a company focused on advancing menopause care.

Newsoms current term as Governor of California is set to conclude in January 2027.
