Judge Now Identifies Anna Kepner's 16-Year-Old Stepbrother as 'a Suspect' in Her Cruise Ship Death

A Florida court has revealed new details in the investigation of Anna Kepners death aboard a cruise earlier this year. Anna, an 18-year-old cheerleader, was traveling with her family when she was tragically found dead.

During a hearing on December 5 in Brevard County, Florida, a judge confirmed that Annas 16-year-old stepbrother is now considered a suspect in her killing. The hearing was primarily related to custody matters between Annas stepmother, Shauntel Hudson, and her ex-husband, Thomas Hudson.

"The 16-year-old child is now a suspect in the death of the stepchild during the cruise," the judge stated.

Anna was discovered under a bed on November 7 while aboard the Carnival Horizon, where she was traveling with her father, grandparents, stepmother, siblings, and stepsiblings. According to her death certificate, she had been "mechanically asphyxiated by other person(s)," and her passing was officially ruled a homicide.

Although authorities have not publicly named a suspect, court records show that the 16-year-old stepbrother of Anna became the focus of a criminal investigation shortly after her death.

The family has expressed shock over the revelations. Annas father, Christopher Kepner, told reporters that he never imagined such a tragedy could occur. "He was a normal kid," he said. "And I would have never thought any of this wouldve happened."

Annas grandparents shared similar feelings, describing the teens as inseparable. Barbara Kepner stated they were "like two peas in a pod."

When asked whether he believes his stepson was responsible, Christopher Kepner said, "I cannot say that he is responsible but I cant decline." He emphasized that the FBI is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the facts.

"I want him to face the consequences," Christopher added. "I will be fighting to make sure that does happen."
