Watch: Trailer with nine sled dogs overturns on Minnesota highway

December 3 A Minnesota dog sledding team experienced a scare when their trailer flipped on Interstate 494, but all nine dogs survived, though one briefly ran loose.

Jack and Kris Christopher, who run Silent Run Adventures in Monticello, reported that the incident occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday in Minnetonka. Jack Christopher described the moment the trailer began to sway and eventually split in two. "The back end came loose on me, corrected, corrected, and then suddenly the trailer started moving uncontrollably," he told local media.

Eight of the sled dogs stayed near the trailer, but one husky, named Hoss, dashed onto the highway. Emergency responders, including state troopers, local police, and firefighters, assisted in keeping Hoss safe until Kris Christopher was able to retrieve him.

The dogs were taken to a nearby veterinary clinic in separate vehicles. One dog, Rebel, even traveled in the rear of a police car. Fortunately, the Christophers said the animals appeared unharmed, though they will be observed for a week to ensure there are no hidden injuries.

The couple is now seeking support to cover veterinary expenses and fund a new trailer for their sled dogs.
