Beloved father passes away after being struck by car

Authorities have identified a cherished father and husband who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in Nottinghamshire. Phillip Tetley, aged 42, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit on the Straight Mile, near HMP Ranby, close to Retford, on Monday morning.

Emergency responders were alerted at 07:56 GMT. Despite immediate efforts by first responders and members of the public, Mr. Tetley was declared deceased at the scene.

Nottinghamshire Police shared a heartfelt statement from Mr. Tetley's family and friends, describing him as "the kindest and most thoughtful man, and a friend to many."

The driver involved remained at the scene and provided a full account to officers, police confirmed.

The family tribute highlighted: "Phil was a deeply loved husband, son, father of four, and stepfather to three."

Detective Sergeant Jo Eaton said: "Our hearts go out to Mr. Tetley's family, friends, and loved ones after this devastating event. His family have requested privacy during this incredibly challenging time, and specially trained officers will continue to offer support. We are also thankful to the members of the public who assisted at the scene and supplied information for the investigation."

The road in the vicinity was temporarily closed following the collision as authorities carried out their inquiries.
