Caution about waves hitting coastal roads

A weather advisory is in effect on the Isle of Man until 11:00 GMT on Thursday, cautioning residents about waves striking exposed coastal roads during high tide periods.

The Ronaldsway Met Office has issued a yellow alert for potential coastal flooding from 20:30 GMT until 11:00 GMT on Thursday, driven by strong wind conditions. Forecasters have highlighted that the locations most vulnerable to waves carrying debris ashore include Castletown Promenade and Shore Road in Rushen in the south, along with the northern section of Douglas Promenade.

Wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph (72 km/h) are forecast overnight, accompanied by heavy rainfall, creating potentially hazardous conditions along the coast.
