Iberia, part of IAG, continues to suspend flights to Venezuela until December

Madrid, Dec 1 (Reuters) Iberia, the Spanish airline, announced on Monday that it will continue its suspension of flights to Venezuela until December 31. The move follows guidance from Spain's aviation safety authority, AESA, amid ongoing tensions between Caracas and Washington affecting commercial aviation.

The announcement comes shortly after Venezuela revoked the operating licenses of six major international airlines that had paused services following a U.S. warning about "potentially hazardous conditions" in Venezuelan airspace. Caracas accused these carriers of participating in "state terrorism" orchestrated by the United States.

Owned by International Consolidated Airlines Group, Iberia stated that passengers affected by the suspension can change their travel dates, rebook to nearby destinations, or request a refund. The airline emphasized that it plans to resume operations "as soon as full safety assurances are in place."

Several international airlines have indicated a willingness to return to Caracas once the situation stabilizes. However, ongoing military activities in the Caribbean region have forced most carriers to keep services on hold.
