Kate Middleton Utilizes Mood Boards for Decorating Her "Forever Home" During "Challenging" Move

Kate Middleton has had a hectic period, relocating her family just last month. The Wales family of five now live in Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom Georgian mansion that is being called their forever home.

During a visit with Germanys First Couple on December 3, the Princess of Wales revealed she is using mood boards to guide the interior design of their new residence.

Balancing royal duties with her growing interest in home decor, Kate shared that she is curating the aesthetic of Forest Lodge with mood boards, a creative approach to visualizing her decorating plans. The mansion, which she and Prince William moved into recently, is set to be the permanent family residence for themselves and their children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

During the state visit, Germanys First Lady Elke Bdenbender commented on the familys relocation, to which Kate explained, We are putting together some mood boards for the room, and we will start after Christmas. Bdenbender responded, Can you send me pictures when theyre done? Id love to see the outcome. Kate agreed with a smile. Prince William noted that the relocation had been rather challenging with elements of twists, but were tackling it.

Kate has previously applied her interior design skills to other family residences, including Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace in London, and Anmer Hall in Norfolk. Forest Lodge is now under a 20-year lease signed privately by the couple, who also funded minor renovations and will pay market rent.

According to reports, Kates contemporary classic style is evident throughout Forest Lodge. The mansion features Venetian windows, marble fireplaces, and a barrel-vaulted hall ceiling. She has chosen furnishings from high-end British brands, including a 24-seat dining table, signaling plans to host elegant dinners in the home. Forest Lodge, at 328 years old, includes six bathrooms and is double the size of the familys former four-bedroom residence, Adelaide Cottage.

A source indicated that while Windsor has long been home for the family, the move to Forest Lodge offers a fresh start and a new chapter, leaving behind some difficult memories. This relocation is intended as a long-term arrangement, cementing Forest Lodge as the familys permanent home.
