According to Renewable Energy Magazine, a major renewable energy project in Finland has officially been finished. Manufacturer OX2 recently transferred a newly constructed wind farm to the local utility company Helen.

The facility features 22 wind turbines with a total capacity of 145 megawatts and an estimated annual output of 400 gigawatt-hours. OX2 reports that this output is sufficient to supply power to approximately 80,000 Finnish households.

This development aligns with Helens ongoing transition in its energy portfolio, which recently saw the closure of its final coal-fired plant as part of efforts to reduce environmental impact. The shift demonstrates the potential for large-scale renewable energy projects to replace fossil fuel-based power effectively.

Coal and gas power generation are significant sources of pollution, contributing to local health risks and intensifying global climate disruptions. These disruptions include floods, heat waves, and droughts, leading to economic and ecological challenges.

Finland continues to proactively address these issues, expanding its clean energy programs with initiatives such as Arctic solar panel installations, large-scale thermal energy storage, and the worlds largest air-to-water heat pump.

OX2 currently has eight more projects under construction across several countries, including Poland, Australia, Sweden, and Romania, aiming to produce an additional 1.5 gigawatts of energy. While most of these projects focus on wind energy, solar power is also included.

Beyond generating clean energy, OX2 emphasizes community engagement in its projects. A spokesperson stated, "OX2 and our suppliers are guests in the local communities. We prioritize dialogue, respect, and support through local employment, business development, and financial contributions, depending on regional needs."
