Truck trapped under bridge leading to road closures

A major roadway has been shut down after a lorry transporting a forklift became trapped beneath a railway bridge. Images circulating online show the truck lodged under Honeybourne Railway Bridge on the A4019 in Cheltenham.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the closure affects the area near Tewkesbury Road and the High Street. Motorists have been urged to steer clear of the location while authorities work to resolve the situation.

In a brief statement, a Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said they were alerted to the incident shortly before 10:00 GMT. "PCSOs remain at the scene, and our highways team will attend shortly," the statement read. "We advise the public to use alternative routes if travelling in the vicinity."

The county council, responsible for road management, has been contacted for further information.
