Trump's Overnight Meltdown on Truth Social Leads to Spreading Unhinged Conspiracies

On Monday night, former President Donald Trump engaged in a prolonged social media outburst, using his platform to promote a conspiracy theory suggesting that former First Lady Michelle Obama signed presidential pardons on behalf of President Joe Biden. Between 7 p.m. and nearly midnight Eastern Time, Trump made over 160 posts and reshares, intensifying his usual activity on the platform.

During this surge, he amplified a clip from far-right commentator Alex Jones, who highlighted a claim by Bed Bath & Beyond founder Patrick Byrne. Byrne alleged that Obama used Bidens autopen a device Trump has frequently criticized to issue four to five pardons. In the clip, Trump exclaimed, And then youd love to see, who knows if they charged a million dollars a par who knows how that thats so illegal! That is so illegal!

Biden has repeatedly dismissed suggestions regarding the autopen, asserting in June that he personally made all decisions related to pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations during his administration. He described any contrary claims as ridiculous and false.

Beyond the Obama-Biden allegation, Trump targeted former Attorney General Eric Holder, criticized Democratic veterans who urged troops to defy unlawful orders as a threat to America, accused Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) of crimes, and labeled Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) a terrorist from a terrorist family.

In one post, he shared an AI-generated video featuring Elon Musk, highlighting Trumps promise to revoke temporary legal protections for Somali migrants in Minnesota. This coincided with a Treasury Department investigation into alleged misdirection of taxpayer funds to a Somali terrorist group, a claim with little supporting evidence according to The Minnesota Star Tribune.

Trump also circulated additional conspiracy theories, claiming that Bidens former White House chief of staff, Jeff Zients, and Hunter Biden acted as the SECRET PARDON PUPPET MASTERS within the administration.
