Usher and Big Sean Collaborate to Invest $1 Million in Entertainment Production Facility for Detroit Youth

Music icons Usher and Big Sean are partnering to support the youth of Detroit by investing $1 million in a new entertainment production center. The facility, named the Detroit Entertainment Innovation Incubator, will be housed within the Michigan Central Boys & Girls Club and will feature a virtual production studio, a special effects lab, and a creators lounge.

Alongside Ushers New Look and the Sean Anderson Foundation, partners include Ilitch Sports + Entertainment and Emory Universitys Goizueta Business School.

Ive always believed in inspiring the next generation and providing opportunities we didnt have, said Usher. This Spark Lab in Detroit, together with my friend and fellow Boys & Girls Club alum Big Sean, will reduce barriers for young people and prepare them for success. It only takes one person to believe in your potential, and Im proud to be part of this effort.

Big Sean, who has consistently contributed to Detroits development, emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent. Detroit is where my creativity began, from freestyling in my moms basement to performing worldwide. My goal has always been to give the next generation of dreamers from my city the tools, guidance, and opportunities to succeed, he said. The Innovation Incubator will show young people they can create opportunities right here in Detroit.

The program will serve Detroit residents aged 14 to 24, offering advanced creative programs, access to technology, and hands-on workshops. Participants will gain skills needed for careers in music, film, television, AI, and special effects.

The Michigan Central Boys & Girls Club is expected to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility in February 2026.
