Creator Reveals Details for Season 3 of 'Euphoria'

The HBO drama Euphoria is set to return after a five-year time jump, with creator and showrunner Sam Levinson giving fans a glimpse of where the characters are now. The highly anticipated third season is scheduled for April 2026, more than four years after season two concluded. The series originally premiered in 2018.

The extended hiatus was influenced by multiple factors, including coordinating the busy cast schedules, Levinsons work on his other HBO series The Idol, and a temporary cooling in his relationship with star Zendaya. Speaking at a Content London event, Levinson shared that the new season will explore life beyond the "safety net of school," following the characters after both high school and college graduation.

We agreed early on that we couldnt go back to high school, Levinson explained, noting that a five-year jump felt natural, aligning with the characters post-college phase.

Zendayas character, Rue, has relocated to Mexico, grappling with debt to drug dealer Laurie, portrayed by Martha Kelly. Levinson hinted at Rue devising creative methods to settle her obligations.

Major developments include Sydney Sweeneys Cassie and Jacob Elordis Nate being engaged and eventually marrying this season. It will be an unforgettable night, Levinson teased, noting that Cassie is now living in the suburbs, addicted to social media, and envious of her former classmates seemingly glamorous lives.

Other characters paths include Hunter Schafers Jules attending art school while struggling with career pressures, Alexa Demis Maddie working at a Hollywood talent agency and juggling side projects, and Maude Apatows Lexi serving as an assistant to a showrunner played by newcomer Sharon Stone.

Levinson acknowledged the casts enthusiasm during the hiatus, which led to new contracts. You want everyone to be there because theyre passionate about the work and excited about the story, he said.

Season 3 will feature new cast members such as Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, Natasha Lyonne, Rosala, Marshawn Lynch, Sam Trammell, and Asante Blackk. Returning actors include Eric Dane, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King, and Colman Domingo. Missing this season are Storm Reid, Austin Abrams, and Javon Walton, while Angus Cloud, beloved for his role as Fezco, passed away in July 2023.

Levinson concluded, This season is about navigating life after school, discovering who you are, and understanding what truly matters. The stakes are higher because the consequences are real, and no one is coming to save you. I feel strongly this is our best season yet.
