Daniel Radcliffe has an unexpected suggestion for a Broadway production he imagines Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy could perform together. The actor, 36, spoke exclusively on the red carpet at the Hudson Theatre in New York City during a special screening of Merrily We Roll Along on Monday, December 1. The screening showcased the 2023 Broadway revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical, in which Radcliffe previously performed.
Tom Felton, 38, who famously portrayed Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films and is currently appearing on stage in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, also attended the event. This prompted a question about which Broadway show would suit a Harry-Draco duo.
I mean, actually we should do Waiting for Godot. This is perfect. We're in this theater, Radcliffe joked, referencing the ongoing production of the play at the Hudson Theatre starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. He added, Or just surely the answer is probably Cursed Child, but I don't know.
Later during the screening, Radcliffe and Felton shared a warm hug and exchanged a few words, followed by a photothe first public image of the two together in more than ten years. The actors first met while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, released 24 years ago in November 2001.
Despite their characters on-screen rivalry, Radcliffe and Felton have maintained a close real-life friendship. Felton has credited Radcliffe for inspiring his interest in theater. Ive taken a few tips from Potter. He was one of the early inspirations for me to come to Broadway, Felton said during a November interview on Good Morning America. I saw him on his first showover ten years agoand now hes a Tony winner and a huge inspiration for why Broadway is so special.
On November 11, Felton made his Broadway debut in The Cursed Child, reprising his role as Draco Malfoy. The production, now in its seventh year in New York City, follows the next generation of Hogwarts families, focusing on the children of Harry and Draco as they navigate the legacy of the wizarding war.
At the 2025 Tony Awards in June, Felton shared that Radcliffe had been mentoring him for his Broadway debut. My old school chum, Potter, Radcliffe, has done quite a bit of Broadway, so he's holding my hand and helping me through the challenging parts, Felton said. Its an amazing community. The fans are incredibly welcoming, and Im thrilled to be part of it.
