"Development of 'Clue' Scripted Series Underway at Peacock"

Sony Pictures Television, through Hasbro Entertainment, is bringing the classic board game Clue to Peacock in a new scripted series currently in development. Dana Fox, known for Wicked: For Good, will lead the project as showrunner, while Nicholas Stoller, director of The Muppets, will direct. Both Fox and Stoller are also attached as executive producers.

The Clue TV adaptation joins a growing slate of board game-inspired content, including a competition-style version currently in development at Netflix. Sony acquired the television and film rights to the Hasbro property in 2024. Previous attempts to bring Clue to the screen include a planned movie with Ryan Reynolds in 2018 and a brief 2011 teen-focused TV adaptation.

Alongside Fox and Stoller, Gabriel Marano, head of TV at Hasbro Entertainment, Margy Love of Foxy, Inc., and Conor Welch of Stoller Global Solutions will serve as executive producers. Stoller currently maintains an overall deal with Sony. While Peacock will host the series domestically, Sony is seeking international partners for distribution.

The new series aims to fill a niche for mystery-based scripted content on Peacock, particularly after the cancellation of the Rian Johnson-produced Poker Face series. The Clue brand has a notable history on screen, including the 1985 film adaptation starring Tim Curry, which has remained a cultural touchstone for fans of the game.

This project marks a fresh effort to reimagine the beloved board game for television audiences, blending mystery, comedy, and suspense in a new scripted format.
