Kate Walsh makes her comeback to "Grey's Anatomy" after an absence of almost 3 years

Kate Walsh is set to return to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, stepping back into the role of Dr. Addison Montgomery. The actress, 58, will make a guest appearance in the upcoming 22nd season of the medical drama.

The episode featuring Walsh is scheduled to air on January 29, 2026, under the title Strip That Down. Specific details about the storyline have not been released.

Walsh first joined Greys Anatomy during the first season finale and was a main cast member until season 3. Following her initial departure, she returned for several guest appearances. Between 2007 and 2013, she starred in the shows spin-off, Private Practice, for six seasons.

This marks Walshs first return since her guest appearance in season 19. Speaking about her comeback, she previously shared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, It's incredible to be back. The younger actors, who grew up watching the show, make it such a fun experience. Its amusing to be the senior member on set. Everyone is talented and amazing to work with.

Since premiering in 2005, Greys Anatomy has become the longest-running primetime medical drama and ABCs longest-running scripted series.
