Disney World has quietly removed the Aerosmith pre-show from the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster attraction at Hollywood Studios as part of preparations for a Muppets-themed transformation scheduled for summer 2026.
On December 2, Entertainment Weekly reported that the rides pre-show, which previously introduced guests to a behind-the-scenes Aerosmith recording session, was permanently taken down. The video, displayed in a room before the coasters loading area, was boarded up overnight.
The original pre-show featured Aerosmiths Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer performing in a recording studio. It also included appearances by a young Ken Marino as a sound engineer and Illeana Douglas as the bands manager.
The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster first opened in 1999, marked by a giant red guitar on the exterior. Guests boarded a limousine to race across Hollywood to a concert, accompanied by a 125-speaker, 32,000-watt audio system playing Aerosmith classics, including Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, and a roller coaster-themed version of Love in an Elevator.
Although Disney has not announced an official closing date, visitors can experience the ride through the end of the year. The Muppets-themed redesign was first teased in June, with further details shared on the Disney Parks Blog in August.
In the upcoming version, guests will enter a recording studio hosted by the Electric Mayhem band, penguin audio engineers, and Scooter, who races to get the band on stage. The ride promises a twisting, turning, and screamingly fun road trip with high-energy music from the Electric Mayhem throughout the journey.
The iconic red guitar outside the ride will remain, but it will be refreshed with a vibrant and psychedelic new design. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets is expected to open in summer 2026.
