Hugh Jackman surprises high school choir with unexpected visit

Students at the Milwaukee High School of the Arts in Wisconsin were thrilled this week when Hugh Jackman made an unannounced visit to their choir rehearsal. The heartwarming encounter was captured on video, showing students cheering as Jackman greeted them enthusiastically with high fives.

"You all inspire me tremendously," Jackman told the choir, according to Milwaukee Public Schools. "I was once your age, and my school days were entirely devoted to the arts performing in plays, musicals, playing instruments, and singing. Its wonderful to see you pursuing your dreams and passions."

The students had the unique chance to perform for Jackman, singing "From Now On" from his 2017 musical film The Greatest Showman.

Jackman was visiting Milwaukee to promote his latest film, Song Sung Blue, which he stars in alongside Kate Hudson. The movie tells the story of a real-life Milwaukee couple who create a Neil Diamond tribute band called Lightning & Thunder.

During the visit, Focus Features, the studio behind Song Sung Blue, contributed $10,000 for musical instruments and $5,000 for production equipment to support the students at Milwaukee High School of the Arts.

Song Sung Blue is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 25.
