"Malcolm in the Middle" revival teaser nods to iconic scene from original series and announces release date

The beloved series Malcolm in the Middle is set to return! A teaser trailer released on Friday provides a brief glimpse into the upcoming four-part revival, highlighting a humorous callback to a standout moment from the original show. The clip shows someones hair being shaved in a kitchen, reminiscent of the scene where Jane Kaczmareks character shaves Bryan Cranstons Hal.

The new revival, officially titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, will feature returning cast members Jane Kaczmarek, Bryan Cranston, and Frankie Muniz, who reprises his role as Malcolm. Chris Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Emy Coligado will also return. Malcolms brother Dewey will be portrayed by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, replacing Erik Per Sullivan, who is not returning. New cast additions include Keeley Karsten, Kiana Madeira, and Vaughan Murrae.

Frankie Muniz previously teased that the revival would surprise fans. I think people will be surprised, in a sense, where everybody is and the story. But it's only four episodes, Muniz shared on the Lightweights Podcast. Its tough to fit 20 years of story into four 30-minute episodes, but I think fans will be thrilled with what weve created.

Originally airing from 2000 to 2006, Malcolm in the Middle earned seven Emmy Awards, including honors for writing, directing, and Cloris Leachmans guest performance.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair is scheduled to premiere in 2026 on Hulu and Disney+.
