Michael Caine, the iconic actor whose career spans over eight decades, attended the fifth Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, where he was honored with a special lifetime achievement award. Vin Diesel accompanied the 92-year-old legend in a wheelchair and delivered a moving tribute celebrating Caines enduring legacy. Following this, Caine shared his own heartfelt remarks.
The festivals fifth edition featured a glamorous red carpet with appearances from stars including Riz Ahmed, Naomie Harris, Dakota Johnson, Uma Thurman, Ana de Armas, Kirsten Dunst, Jessica Alba, Queen Latifah, and Nina Dobrev. Among them, two-time Academy Award winner Michael Caine was recognized with an honorary award.
During the ceremony, Vin Diesel, who previously collaborated with Caine on The Last Witch Hunter (2015), presented the award. Diesel remarked, Tonight is especially meaningful to me as I get to honor someone widely regarded as one of the finest actors ever. He can command both leading and character roles, all while possessing more charisma than most in Hollywood.
Caine received the accolade with deep gratitude and delivered a candid speech. Thank you for this warm reception. My name is Michael Caine, he began, eliciting enthusiastic applause. Its not my birth name, but its the one that brought me my career. I grew up in a humble Cockney family in London and made a life for myself. Ive earned enough to enjoy both nights out and nights in.
Reflecting on his career, Caine added, Ive won two Oscars, and Ive been blessed with a wonderful family and an incredible movie family, even including the occasional disappointments. I continued working until I was 90. Tonight is another stroke of luck, and I couldnt be happier to be here and receive this unexpected honor.
Having appeared in over 130 films and receiving numerous accolades, Michael Caine remains one of cinemas most celebrated figures. His final acting role was in The Great Escaper (2023), after which he retired from the screen.
