Netflix Responds to Diddy's Claims About 'Sean Combs: The Reckoning': 'This Is Not an Attack or Revenge'

Netflix defended its latest docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, after Sean Diddy Combs and his team criticized it as a shameful hit piece featuring unauthorized footage.

A Netflix representative told Variety that the allegations are untrue, explaining that the series is unrelated to any prior discussions with Combs. The spokesperson confirmed that all footage related to Combs indictment and arrest was obtained legally, emphasizing that the series is not retaliatory. Curtis Jackson serves as an executive producer without creative control, and no participants were compensated.

Director Alexandria Stapleton also stated that every piece of footage was acquired with the appropriate rights. She added, We moved heaven and earth to keep the filmmakers identity confidential. Sean Combs has always been documenting himself, which has been a long-standing habit. We reached out to his legal team for comments multiple times but received no response.

Combs representatives previously claimed that he has been collecting personal footage since he was 19 to tell his own story. They argued that Netflix misrepresented his words. They also described executive producer Curtis 50 Cent Jackson as a longtime adversary with a personal vendetta who has frequently criticized Combs.
