Katie Miller Directly Asks Abby Phillip About Her Opinion on Whether Trump Chief Husband Stephen 'Is A Nazi' During CNN Argument

Podcaster and former Trump White House official Katie Miller confronted CNN anchor Abby Phillip over comments about her husband, Trump Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, during a heated discussion on White Nationalist Nick Fuentes. The exchange took place on Friday nights CNN NewsNight, where the conversation included panelists Scott Jennings, Bakari Sellers, and Nayyera Haq.

The debate escalated when Miller pressed Phillip on previous remarks made by commentator Jennifer Welch, who referred to her husband as a Jewish Nazi.

Miller: If Nick Fuentes wants to speak freely in the U.S., he has every right. Do I agree with his views?
Sellers: Im just asking a yes or no question.
Miller: By the way, I really want to go back to this.
Phillip: This isnt about free speech; its about Tucker Carlsons influence in the conservative movement.
Miller: You host people who have called my husband and me Nazis. How is that different from Carlson hosting Fuentes?
Sellers: Hes anti-Semitic.
Phillip: Nick Fuentes admires Hitler.
Miller: Youve never pushed back when Jennifer Welch called my husband a white nationalist. Thats no different.
Phillip: They are not comparable. Fuentes openly admires Hitler, which is not the same as a liberal expressing a viewpoint.

The argument continued as Miller maintained that Fuentes appearance on Carlsons show was equivalent to Welchs criticisms of her husband. Phillip disagreed, emphasizing the difference between hosting someone who espouses neo-Nazi views and moderating a discussion where opinions are expressed.

Phillip: If someone says they love Hitler, they wouldnt be invited on the show again. That is fundamentally different.
Miller: Yet youve appeared on Welchs podcast, which is similar.
Phillip: Negative commentary about your husband is not the same as glorifying Nazis.
Miller: So it should be your role to push back, just as Carlson should push back against Fuentes.
Phillip: Fuentes isnt describing someone else as a Nazi; he admires Nazis. That distinction matters.

The conversation also touched on Republican leadership. Phillip asked Miller whether she believed figures like J.D. Vance should condone appearances by Fuentes on Carlsons show. Miller responded that she did not think Vance had ever nodded along with Fuentes and compared Carlson hosting Fuentes to Phillip hosting commentators with controversial opinions.

The exchange concluded with Phillip noting that the Republican Party must decide whether it condones amplifying voices that promote neo-Nazism within their ranks.
