Donald Trump Receives New FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup Draw, as Predicted

Donald Trump was honored with the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize during the World Cup Draw held at the Kennedy Center on Friday. The announcement was widely anticipated following FIFAs earlier declaration that the award would be part of the event, which Trump has described as a major achievement for the Kennedy Center, where he serves as chairman.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the award recognizes Trumps remarkable and outstanding efforts to foster peace and global unity. Infantino specifically highlighted the Abraham Accords signed during Trumps first term and the Gaza ceasefire in his second term as examples of his contributions.

Trump expressed that the recognition was one of the greatest honors of my life. Wearing the medal, he remarked, Beyond the awards, Gianni and I were discussing thiswe have saved millions of lives.

When asked on the red carpet if the award could be seen as conflicting with his promise to act on Venezuela, Trump responded, I have resolved eight conflicts, a ninth underway, which is unprecedented. My priority is to save lives; awards are secondary.

Fact-checkers have noted that while Trump played a role in several diplomatic efforts, his statements about the number of conflicts resolved are considered exaggerated.

The FIFA Peace Prize adds to Trumps ongoing pursuit of international recognition in peace efforts, a distinction previously held by figures such as Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Woodrow Wilson, and Theodore Roosevelt.
