President Trump awarded inaugural Fifa Peace Prize

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has been honored with the first-ever Fifa Peace Award ahead of the 2026 Fifa World Cup draw. The new accolade, introduced by Fifa President Gianni Infantino, is designed to recognize individuals who have made "exceptional contributions to global peace" and have "brought people together worldwide."

The announcement of Trump as the recipient was widely anticipated, as he has appeared publicly alongside Infantino multiple times in recent months. The award was officially presented during a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

During the event, Trump was presented with a prominent golden trophy, a medal, and an official certificate by Infantino. In his acceptance speech, Trump highlighted his efforts in diplomacy, claiming to have saved "tens of millions of lives" and to have "prevented wars before they began."

"This is one of the greatest honors I have ever received," Trump stated, while also noting that the upcoming 2026 World Cup had already broken records in ticket sales. He praised Infantino's leadership, saying, "Gianni has done a remarkable job. This is a wonderful recognition for both him and the sport of football, or soccer as we call it in the U.S., surpassing all expectations."

Trump further remarked on the positive global impact of his tenure, asserting, "The world is safer now. A year ago, the U.S. faced challenges, but today it stands stronger than ever."

The 2026 Fifa World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, running from June 11 to July 19.
