DJ Quik's Son Found Guilty of Murder, Could Serve 40 Years in Prison

David Marvin Blake Jr., the son of famed producer DJ Quik, has been found guilty of second-degree murder, according to TMZ. The tragic event took place in 2022 in Downey, California, when 33-year-old Julio Moises Cardoza Jr. was fatally shot.

Authorities reported that Blake, then 27, fired several rounds from a vehicle before fleeing the location. Cardoza Jr. was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest. Blake was apprehended by police the following day.

Blake now faces a potential prison term of 40 years. His sentencing is scheduled for February 6, 2026.

DJ Quik, who has previously commented on his rivalry with Dr. Dre, attended Dres Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2024. Quik has publicly expressed his belief that he deserves similar recognition and success in the West Coast rap scene.

Authorities and news outlets continue to monitor the case, with further updates expected as the sentencing date approaches.
