One human remains discovered at San Diego property: DA

Authorities have concluded their search at a property in San Diego, California, where they uncovered one set of human remains. The discovery took place on Tuesday in the Southcrest area after investigators executed a search warrant, according to statements from local police and prosecutors.

The search extended into Wednesday, initially leaving uncertainty about whether more than one set of remains was present. As of Friday, the San Diego County District Attorney's office confirmed that the identity of the deceased individual is still unknown.

An autopsy is scheduled, and the investigation is ongoing. Officials identified 74-year-old Dwight William Rhone, a former resident of the property, as a person of interest. Rhone is currently detained on separate homicide charges related to a 2023 murder, though authorities have not confirmed any direct link between that case and the recent discovery at the Southcrest property.
