Construction has started on 10,000 SqM Shams Studios in United Arab Emirates

Construction is progressing in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on the expansive Shams Studios, a 9,600-square-meter production facility designed to become a major international production hub. The studio is envisioned to provide state-of-the-art soundstages and production resources, helping to position Sharjah as a key destination for film, television, and streaming content creation worldwide.

The project team has announced an ambitious target to open in Q1 2027. Upon completion, the facility will feature five custom-built soundstages totaling 9,600 square meters: three stages of 1,500 square meters each, one stage of 2,000 square meters, and a larger stage spanning 3,100 square meters. Each stage is designed to meet international standards in acoustics, structural integrity, and electrical specifications, with full support for hybrid digital and virtual production workflows.

Situated within the Sharjah Media City ecosystem, the complex will also include a 700-seat theater for screenings, premieres, and cultural events. The surrounding Creative Oasis district will offer public, educational, and cultural spaces, alongside workshops, production offices, post-production facilities, and talent development labs to nurture regional creators and professionals.

Organizers highlighted the studios strategic global positioning, noting: With studio shortages in North America and Europe, Shams Studios provides international producers, particularly from the UK, US, and India, with large-capacity stages, competitive production environments, and access to global markets.

With 9,600 square meters of purpose-built stages and a vibrant creative ecosystem, we are ready to host international productions and support the next generation of storytellers in the region.
