How to watch SpaceX launch Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg live

SpaceX is preparing for another rocket launch from Southern California this weekend, just three days after its previous mission. This flight will be the third of at least four planned Starlink satellite deployments from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County during the first ten days of December.

The launch will occur early in the morning, meaning spectators near the site will need to rise early to witness the Falcon 9 rocket in person. Those in nearby Riverside County or Palm Springs may find it more convenient to follow the event via a livestream.

Launch Details

The next SpaceX liftoff from California is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, with a four-hour launch window opening at 8:13 a.m. PT. The launch will originate from Vandenberg Space Force Base. In case of delays, a backup launch opportunity is available the following day, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Rocket and Payload

The mission will use SpaceX's two-stage Falcon 9 rocket, which stands 230 feet tall and is one of the world's most frequently launched rockets. The Falcon 9 will carry 28 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit, enabling fast and widespread internet coverage.

How to Watch the Launch

For those who cannot attend in person, SpaceX provides a live webcast. The stream is accessible on the company's website and via the X TV mobile app, starting approximately five minutes before liftoff. Updates may also be shared on social media platform X.

About SpaceX

Founded by billionaire Elon Musk in 2002, SpaceX is headquartered at Starbase in South Texas near the U.S.-Mexico border. The company conducts routine tests of its Starship vehicle, a 400-foot rocket, at this location. SpaceX regularly launches the Falcon 9 from both California and Florida, delivering Starlink satellites and occasionally transporting astronauts to the International Space Station via its Dragon spacecraft. The company also provides launch services for NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense.

About Starlink

Starlink, SpaceXs satellite internet service, now consists of over 8,700 satellites orbiting the Earth, providing global internet coverage. SpaceX has steadily deployed these satellites over the past six years through frequent rocket launches from both Florida and California.
