Report: Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle's Father, Has Leg Amputated in the Philippines

Thomas Markle, father of Meghan Markle, recently underwent surgery to remove his left leg below the knee, according to reports. His son, Thomas Markle Jr., described the procedure as a critical, life-saving intervention.

The 81-year-old, who relocated to the Philippines earlier this year, had the surgery on December 3 after a blood clot in his thigh disrupted circulation. The operation lasted approximately three hours, and he is now recovering in intensive care.

"My dad showed incredible courage. His foot changed color rapidly, turning blue and then black. We went to a local hospital, and after scans and an ultrasound, doctors confirmed amputation was necessary," Thomas Jr. told the media. He emphasized that the decision was urgent and unavoidable, framing it as a "life or death" situation.

Doctors are monitoring him closely, with the next few days considered critical to prevent complications such as infection, sepsis, or gangrene.

Thomas has struggled with health problems over the past years, including a reported stroke in 2022. His relationship with Meghan has been strained since her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, following controversies involving staged paparazzi photos and private communications with the press. Meghan has openly expressed the pain of this estrangement in interviews, describing the emotional impact of losing her father.

The news of Thomass surgery coincides with the premiere of Meghans Netflix special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, which debuted on December 3. The program highlights Meghan and Harrys family traditions in Montecito, California, featuring moments with their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, including holiday preparations and festive cooking inspired by Meghans mother, Doria Ragland.
