Councils providing free parking incentives

Councils across Derbyshire have introduced a range of parking incentives to attract both shoppers and visitors this holiday season. Offers include free parking and extended hours, aiming to support local businesses in the run-up to Christmas.

Amber Valley Borough Council will provide free parking from 1:00 PM GMT between 12 and 26 December across all pay-and-display car parks. The council emphasized that standard parking regulations, such as maximum stay limits and disabled bay rules, will still apply.

Bolsover Borough Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, and South Derbyshire Council already offer free parking in all council-managed car parks throughout the year.

This December, Erewash Borough Council is extending free parking to the entire month, unlike previous years when it was limited to specific dates. Curtis Howard, the councils lead for planning and regeneration, confirmed that council-owned car parks in Ilkeston, Long Eaton, and Sandiacre will be free every day starting 1 December. Additionally, Long Eaton train station will also offer free parking.

High Peak Borough Council will allow free parking in pay-and-display car parks on all Saturdays in December, specifically 6, 13, 20, and 27 December, as well as on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Standard time restrictions will still be enforced.

Derbyshire Dales District Council is offering free parking after 2:00 PM throughout December in all pay-and-display car parks.

Derby City Council and Chesterfield Borough Council are not providing blanket free parking. Derby City Council will offer limited parking deals, including discounted all-day parking for 4 via the MiPermit app. On Saturday 6 December, select on-street and car park locations will be available for 2.50 when using the app.
