Jimmy Kimmel expresses gratitude to Trump for helping him become the 3rd most trending person in the world in 2025

In an unusual acknowledgment, Jimmy Kimmel expressed gratitude to Donald Trump on Thursday night for being a dedicated viewer. During the opening segment of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host discussed Googles list of the top global trends for 2025, revealing his surprise at ranking as the third most trending person worldwide.

Kimmel joked about the lists top spots: Number one was a singer named D4vd, who uses a 4 instead of an A and is suspected in a murder case, which probably influenced his ranking. Number two is Kendrick Lamar, who famously confronted Drake at the Super Bowl halftime. And then theres me, despite having no involvement in any crimes.

He continued with humor, noting, I somehow ranked above the Pope. Take that, Leo! I even beat Diddy! How did that happen?

Kimmel singled out one figure in particular for helping him achieve this recognition: I want to thank loyal viewers like President Trump, whose attention has boosted our shows visibility this year. Thank you, Mr. President, for helping me reach No. 3 globally.

The host has had a tumultuous year, including a brief suspension by ABC after comments about the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Trump publicly celebrated Kimmels temporary removal and has repeatedly criticized him on social media. Late last month, Trump demanded on Truth Social that ABC remove Kimmel, claiming he has NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS.

Kimmel noted the timing of Trumps social media posts, remarking that the President commented 11 minutes after the show ended on the East Coast, adding, Which is nice he watches us live. Hi, Mr. President! Thanks for watching on TV instead of YouTube. Viewers like you ironically keep us on the air.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
