Jimmy Kimmel compares Trump administration to Ikea cabinets: 'They have better quality'

Late-night hosts didnt hold back on criticizing Donald Trump after his marathon posting session on Truth Social and apparent struggles to stay awake during cabinet meetings. Jimmy Kimmel targeted the former president once again on Tuesday night.

Ive said it before, but seriously this time: last night, he completely lost it, Kimmel opened. The man supposedly running the country launched a furious social media blitz starting at 7:09 p.m. and going almost nonstop until midnight.

During that five-hour window on Monday, Trump made 116 posts, averaging one every two minutes. How long do you have to sit on the toilet to post that often? Kimmel quipped. And what is he even eating?

Kimmel then ridiculed Trumps press-friendly cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where the president claimed tariffs revenue would eliminate income taxa claim with no basis in reality. He would knowhasnt paid income tax in, what, 50 years? Kimmel said. Does anyone really believe income tax will vanish? Its like a student council candidate promising soda in the drinking fountains.

Trump also reacted to a New York Times report suggesting hes reducing public appearances due to fatigue. Kimmel joked, Which is ridiculous. Does this look like someone tired? before showing clips of Trump nodding off, even during a presentation by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. If you can sleep through that voice, you are truly exhausted, Kimmel added. Of course hes tiredhe was up all night posting!

Kimmel then lampooned Trumps cabinet members in a biting rundown: We have a twice-baked RFK Jr. involved in a scandal, a secretary of war targeting civilians, an FBI director using private jets for personal trips and delaying investigations, an attorney general turning the Justice Department into chaos, a wrestling magnate running Education who wants to eliminate it, a Homeland Security chief with controversial actions, and healthcare in the hands of Dr. Oz.

They have better-quality cabinets at Ikea, Kimmel concluded.

Stephen Colbert added his own critique on Tuesdays Late Show. 2025 has been rough, and Donald Trump is largely to blame, he said, citing a Gallup poll showing a 36% approval rating and 60% disapproval. Colbert joked that Trumps new slogan could be: More Popular Than Syphilis.

Colbert noted Trump is performing poorly in almost every category, including the economy, healthcare, education, and the environment. Hes the most hated Zootopia character, the lowest-rated midsize sedan, and the least popular Oreo flavor, he quipped. The presidents biggest struggle, Colbert added, remains the rising cost of living for Americans.

On The Daily Show, Desi Lydic highlighted Pete Hegseth, the self-proclaimed secretary of war, facing criticism for authorizing strikes on suspected drug-smuggling boats off Venezuela. Experts from both parties have suggested these actions could qualify as war crimes. Lydic deadpanned, If someone does something wrong, hes supposed to take responsibility, noting Hegseth instead blamed his commander, Adm. Mitch Bradley, while publicly claiming support for all his decisions. She mocked this preemptive defense as absurd, especially as Hegseth responded with memes, including a disturbing image of Franklin the Turtle attacking a boat from a helicopter.
