Ritz Crackers Recalled in 8 States Due to Risk of Life-Threatening Allergen

Mondelz Global LLC has initiated a voluntary recall of 70 cases of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches after discovering a labeling error. Some cartons marked as "Cheese" may actually contain peanut butter, posing a serious risk for individuals with peanut allergies.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warns that exposure to peanuts can trigger severe and potentially fatal allergic reactions, including coughing, wheezing, vomiting, diarrhea, swelling of the face or tongue, hives, difficulty breathing, and loss of consciousness.

The recall affects six-pack containers with the UPC 44000 07584 2 and Best-by dates of January 8, 2026, and January 15, 2026. Shipments reached stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Missouri, New York, and New Jersey.

Mondelz confirmed that while the outer cartons carry correct allergen information stating the presence of peanuts, the individual packs inside may be mislabeled. No injuries or allergic reactions have been reported at this time.

The company emphasizes the recall is a precautionary measure. Consumers with peanut allergies should not eat the affected crackers and should dispose of them immediately. For questions or further guidance, Mondelz can be contacted at 1-844-366-1171.
