Ritz Crackers Recalled Due to Undeclared Allergen

Mondelz Global has issued a voluntary recall of certain Ritz Cracker Sandwiches after discovering that some packs were incorrectly labeled, containing peanut butter instead of cheese. This mislabeling poses a serious health risk for individuals with peanut allergies.

The recall involves 70 cartons of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, where some individually wrapped portions were mistakenly marked as the cheese variety. If someone consumes these crackers unaware of the peanut content, it could trigger a severe allergic reaction. No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far.

The affected products were distributed to stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania.

Consumers should check for the following details to identify recalled products:

  • 20-count box (27.6 oz.) of RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches (20 x 1.38-oz. 6-pack cartons)
  • Boxes are labeled correctly, but individual packs inside may incorrectly show cheese
  • Best by dates: 8 Jan 26 or 15 Jan 26
  • Plant code: AE

Anyone who has purchased the recalled crackers should discard them immediately, particularly if there is a peanut allergy risk in the household. For more information or assistance, contact Mondelz Global at 1-844-366-1171 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
