Al Roker Meets Girl Who Became Internet Sensation at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Her Response Is Equally Funny

During the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 27, Al Roker created a viral moment by inviting 7-year-old Elliott Austin out of the crowd and presenting her with tickets to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes. Elliott humorously told Roker, I did that yesterday! which delighted viewers and sparked widespread online attention.

Following her viral moment, Elliott and her mother, Casey Austin, visited the Today show on December 1. There, Roker surprised Elliott with even more gifts: tickets to the Broadway musical Six and a shopping spree at the American Girl store, making her birthday celebration in New York City truly unforgettable.

The family, originally from Tampa, Florida, decided to extend their trip due to Elliotts newfound fame. Elliott had already enjoyed seeing the Rockettes with her grandmother the day before, making Rokers gift an extra special treat. Casey shared, Her Nana had bought her tickets to the Rockettes way in advance. Couldnt pass up going with Nana to see them the morning before. And we will definitely be back to see the Rockettes.

Casey also explained how the opportunity arose: a family friend aware of their New York plans connected them with parade contacts, allowing Elliott to be part of the broadcast. Since her birthday coincided with Thanksgiving, the family had originally planned a trip to the city.

Reflecting on the broadcast, Roker admitted he made a rookie mistake by asking a question without knowing the answer. The family continues to adjust to the attention, hearing from friends, teachers, and relatives following Elliotts viral appearance. Elliott fondly recalled another highlight from her trip: I ate ham at my cousins house!
