Actor Andrew Scott, known for his roles in Sherlock, All of Us Strangers, and Fleabag, has been added to the cast of HBO's comedy series The Comeback for its third season. He will join a returning ensemble led by Lisa Kudrow, alongside Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, Damian Young, Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Jack OBrien, Ella Stiller, John Early, Barry Shabaka Henley, Abbi Jacobson, Tony Macht, Brittany OGrady, Zane Phillips, and Julian Stern.

The series, created by Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow, satirizes the Hollywood entertainment world. Kudrow reprises her role as sitcom actress Valerie Cherish, navigating the challenges of modern-day Los Angeles. Originally premiered in 2005, The Comeback took a nine-year hiatus before returning for its final third season, which is scheduled to debut in March 2026.

During a presentation in London, King explained that the show now explores the horror of social media through Valeries obsession with seeing herself on screen. He remarked, Twenty years later, everybody is Valerie. Everyone is curating their lives online, worrying and projecting. Valerie now seems saner.

Kudrow shared that Season 3 includes a connection to the sitcom that made her famous, Friends. Some filming took place on Stage 24 at Warner Bros., famously known as the Friends stage. She said, I did shoot something fun on the [Friends] couch I had to guard myself every day we were on stage or I would cry, as it means so much to me.

Season 3 is executive produced by King and Kudrow, along with John Melfi and Dan Bucatinsky. Andrew Scott is represented by CAA, United Agents, Relevant, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
