Netflix has given the green light to a new drama series set against the glittering, high-stakes backdrop of Las Vegas. The untitled show is the creation of Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who will also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Martin Scorsese will join as an executive producer through Sikelia Productions.
Other executive producers on the project include Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn for Expanded Media, Paul Schiff representing Best Available, the production company of Koppelman and Levien, and Beth Schacter. Kerry Orent will co-executive produce the series.
The series will consist of eight episodes. Its official description sets the stage for a gripping drama: An hour-long exploration of the modern Las Vegas casino scene, where power plays and sharp elbows define the business. At the center is Robert Bobby Red Redman, president of the citys most sought-after hotel casino, who must take calculated risks to maintain his position and expand his influence.
Koppelman and Levien bring deep experience with gambling narratives. Their past work includes writing the Las Vegas-set heist film Oceans 13, the poker-themed drama Rounders, and the online gambling movie Runner Runner. They are also the co-creators of the acclaimed Showtime series Billions, which concluded in 2023 after seven seasons, and the limited series Super Pumped, chronicling Ubers rise. Beth Schacter previously collaborated with them as co-showrunner on both series.
Martin Scorsese has a long-standing connection to Las Vegas cinema, having directed the Oscar-nominated film Casino featuring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone. Beyond film, Scorsese has executive produced and directed several TV projects, including HBO dramas Boardwalk Empire and Vinyl, the Apple TV adaptation of Cape Fear, and documentary series such as Pretend Its a City and The Last Movie Stars.
Koppelman, Levien, and Scorsese have previously collaborated, with Koppelman and Levien initially attached to showrun Vinyl and working together on a planned adaptation of the novel The Winter of Frankie Machine, which has not yet been produced.
The creative team is represented by top agencies: Koppelman and Levien by WME and Jackoway Austen Tyerman, Levien additionally by 3 Arts Entertainment, Scorsese by WME and LBI Entertainment, and Schacter by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole LLP.
