George Clooney Reflects on Learning from Failure and Humiliation

George Clooney has shared an honest reflection on how he has come to accept failure and public embarrassment throughout his acting journey. He emphasized that embracing risk is essential to navigating a career in Hollywood.

In a recent conversation, Clooney recounted the early lessons he observed from his family, particularly the experiences of his aunt, Rosemary Clooney, who became a teenage sensation. She rose to fame at 16, graced the cover of Time magazine, and faced difficulties as public attention shifted.

She gained massive recognition at a young age and believed everything they told her about her greatness. When the industry changed, she wasnt ready for it. If you accept the highs, you must also accept the lows, Clooney reflected.

Before landing his iconic role on ER, Clooney endured countless auditions and setbacks. He explained, Being an actor inevitably means facing failure. Thats the risk. When success comes, its rewarding because you dared to risk embarrassment.

Reflecting on his past work, Clooney cited the 1997 film Batman & Robin as a pivotal learning experience. You dont gain wisdom from success; failure teaches you. You figure things out as you go, and that process is invaluable, he said.

Clooneys newest project, Jay Kelly, co-starring Adam Sandler, became available for streaming on Netflix on December 5.
