Gwyneth Paltrow Feels Emotional as She Acknowledges the Industry's Warm Welcome at THR Women in Entertainment Gala

Gwyneth Paltrow, featured on this weeks Hollywood Reporter cover, grew emotional while expressing gratitude to the entertainment industry during the presentation of the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at THRs annual Women in Entertainment gala. The event, hosted by Lifetime, took place Wednesday at The Beverly Hills Hotel.

Being here with all of you the women, and the men who support us at this beautiful gathering and to all 100 women recognized today this is truly a gift. I deeply feel the sense of community here this morning a community that embraces all sides of me and has welcomed me back, Paltrow said, visibly moved as the audience applauded.

The actress has been on a five-year acting hiatus but is returning this year in Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie and co-starring Timothe Chalamet. The film has already earned glowing reviews and is scheduled for release on December 25. Paltrow also thanked her husband, Brad Falchuk, calling him the most feminist man I know who allows her to fully express herself every day.

She continued, Thank you to the women present and absent all the women in this industry who have supported me over the years. And congratulations to Jennifer Lopez for being such an inspiring example of embracing your true self.

The Sherry Lansing Leadership Award honors trailblazers and philanthropists in media and entertainment. It commemorates Sherry Lansing, the former CEO of Paramount Pictures and the first woman to lead a Hollywood studio. Robert Downey Jr., Paltrows former Iron Man co-star, presented the award, joking about her career and achievements: I pulled her out of her first unannounced retirement from cinema. In 2007, she was balancing motherhood, building Goop, and winning major acting awards while guiding directors like Anderson, Minghella, Soderbergh, and Fincher.

Downey Jr. also playfully referenced Paltrows viral ski trial incident, noting her grace and strength during the legal ordeal, highlighting her integrity and poise.

On stage, Paltrow responded warmly, saying, Robert, I love you so much. You are like the older brother I never had, and Im so grateful for your honesty and brilliance, both on screen and in life.

The breakfast gala was hosted by Rachel Sennott, with appearances from Dakota Johnson, Sarah Paulson, Goldie Hawn, Regina Hall, Chase Infiniti, Jimmy Kimmel, and Molly McNearney. THRs Women in Entertainment was sponsored by Lifetime, Delta Air Lines, Medicube, Reyka Vodka, and Seven Bucks Productions, in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, Entertainment Industry Foundation, Gersh, Chapman University, and Loyola Marymount University.
