James Wan brings back ‘Paranormal Activity’ for upcoming Blumhouse film

James Wan, the acclaimed filmmaker behind The Conjuring and Insidious, is returning to the horror genre by reviving the Paranormal Activity franchise with a new Blumhouse production. Wan will produce the untitled film in collaboration with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.

The new installment will serve as a sequel to the 2021 release Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin. Wan and Jason Blums production companies have partnered with Paramount, which will co-finance, co-produce, and manage global distribution for the project.

Wan expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, Ive always admired Paranormal Activity for its slow-building suspense and ability to make the unseen terrifying. Im excited to continue its legacy and help evolve this iconic found-footage horror series.

Jason Blum also commented on the collaboration, saying, Working with James to breathe new life into the franchise that launched Blumhouse is a dream come true. Ill be closely involved to ensure this next chapter delivers the chills fans expect. He added with a touch of humor, We can now spend a little more than the $15,000 we had for the first movie, but one thing remains do not watch it alone.

This upcoming project marks Wans continued influence in modern horror. He recently concluded his work on The Conjuring series with The Conjuring: Last Rites, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film achieved global box office success, grossing $487 million.

The new Paranormal Activity film is being developed in collaboration with original series creator Oren Peli through Solana Films, promising to expand the terrifying legacy of the franchise.
